I completely understand many people have heard of mindfulness and have no idea where to start. The idea of these blogs is to give you a range of tools to help get your head a bit clearer. I love this cartoon, not sure where the original came from but think it is very relevant and my aim is to try and help get your head more like the ‘mindful’ dog rather that the ‘mind full’ person.
If you are new to all this then here is a very, very simple thing to try. This website http://www.donothingfor2minutes.com does exactly what it says on the tin and asks you to ‘Do Nothing For 2 Minutes’. Just try and breathe, listen to the waves and if you want look at the picture. Most people struggle to begin with but that is fine.. don’t beat yourself up if you don’t manage it at first. I set a timer a couple of times a day on my phone and if I’m working on the computer when it goes off I do this.. just breathing deeply and taking a bit of a time-out can help enormously and make you more focused when you go back to your work.
Give it a try – Click on the picture below and breathe!
